How important mobile phones to young people

Reasons for buying phones
Nearly half of the people buying the mobile phones say they have bought them for personal use only. They are bought by both girls and boys alike.
Many young people use the phones to contact their parents if they are going to be late back from school. Others use the phone to stay in touch with friends, or to discuss home work during the week. Young people out alone feel safer if they can reach family and friends quickly.
The phones have become fashionable. Young people compare different types, ringing tones and programmes. Young people like the look of a phone.
As any invention a mobile phone has both advantages and disadvantages.
Advantages
It helps you stay in touch whenever you want. You can call the police or the ambulance if an accident happens. It can help save somebody`s life. It`s good for business. It makes life easier and more comfortable. Modern phones are equipped with GPS. It helps parents know where their children are.
Disadvantages
Lack of privacy. You never can be alone. People can phone you any time, even when you don`t want or can`t talk. Of course you can switch the phone off but than you can miss a very important call. Moreover, people can take pictures of you when you don`t want that. Later they can upload these pictures on the Internet. In addition, phones distract students from  studies. At the lessons students send messages, listen to music or play games instead of learning. Finally, phones are bad for health as radiation negatively affects central neural and immune system.
As models become increasingly sophisticated, there's a growing tendency for people to rely on their phones for a variety of tasks. No longer they are just used for talking, they are now calendar, clock, alarm, phone book, walkman, video player, internet and camera rolled into one - all well and good, until your phone is lost, stolen, broken, left at home or the battery runs out.
Conclusions
Owing a mobile phone is not a sign of how much money you have got but a means of keeping in touch. Young people will continue to buy more and more mobile phones. Almost all communications will be on the mobile phone in the next ten years. This is good news for the mobile phone companies. In the future, the phones which will be the most popular will be those which look attractive and have a lot of extras.

Internet safety

Learn about llamas, read up on your favorite skateboard star, or study a stegosaurus. You can do all these things online and then email or text message your best friend about it. But when you're moving through cyberspace, you need to stay safe.
It comes down to just a few simple guidelines:
1.      Don't communicate with strangers online and never agree to meet in person.
2.      Tell a parent or another adult if a stranger contacts you in a chat room or through email or text messaging.
3.      Don't enter contests, join clubs, or share your personal information for any reason, unless your mom or dad says it's OK. Personal information includes your name, address, age, phone number, birthday, email address, where you go to school, and other facts about you.
 No Talking to Strangers
Since you were a little kid, your mom or dad has probably told you not to talk to strangers. The same goes for the online world. It's easy to meet a stranger on the Internet. You might visit a chat room or get an email or text message from someone you don't know.
It can be fun to make new friends, but do not communicate with strangers you meet online. Don't talk to them, agree to phone them, or email them photos of yourself. To a kid, this can seem kind of silly. Why not make a friend with someone who likes skateboarding just as much as you do? The writer might seem really nice and tell you how you sound really smart and cute.
Unfortunately, kids have been tricked online by people who pretend to be something that they're not. Someone might lie and say they're in sixth grade, too, when they're really all grown up and they don't even know how to skateboard. Some kids have found themselves in a dangerous situation when they agreed to meet the mysterious online "friend" in person.
Let your parents know if a stranger emails you, sends a text message, or starts a conversation with you in a chat room. The email could be from a person or a company trying to sell you something. A grown-up should decide what's best to do, which may include changing your email address or telling the police.

Keep Your Privacy
Anybody who uses the Internet has been asked to sign in, log in, or create a personal profile. Kids need to check with a parent or grown-up before doing so. Why? This information could be used for reasons you wouldn't like, like getting a lot of junk email.
Another word about email: If you have your own account, let your mom or dad know before you reply to email that asks for your personal information. Some email looks official, as if it was sent by your Internet provider, but it's actually a trick to get your personal info.
Another way to keep your privacy is to choose a screen name or email account name that isn't your real name. For instance, instead of "Jack_Smith," why not choose "Sk8boardKing21"? Only your friends and family will know your code name!

Can you explain these proverbs in other words?
  • The best things in life are free.
  • Time is money.
  • Save your pennies for a rainy day.
  • Money talks.
  • You can't take it with you when you go.
  • Money doesn't grow on trees.
My every day shopping
When we want to buy something, we go to a shop.
Everyday shopping is rather traditional: some white and brown bread, milk, butter, sugar, salt, eggs, sausages. But it’s not necessary to visit different provisional shops such as bakery or butchery to buy food for the family because we could buy foodstuffs in a supermarket. Different goods are sold under one roof, so customers can save their time having all goods bought in no time.
Well, shopping is no fun any longer, but my daily duty. I try to be rational and economical. I try to follow some steps. First of all, it is necessary to make a shopping list of what we need. Then we should calculate how much our purchases would cost and take this very sum of money with us. The third rule tells that we shouldn’t be hungry while shopping, a hungry person buys the things his or her stomach dictates to buy, not thinking about prices or rational nutrition. And we shouldn’t go shopping immediately after we have got our salary, when we feel impressed by a large sum of money and don’t think it’s for a long month to last.
Every day before leaving for school I look around the kitchen to see what we need. And on my way from school I drop into the nearest supermarket, and buy bread and other everyday essentials. Every Friday evening my Mum and I examin our kitchen more carefully as Saturday is our shopping day. The shopping list is rather long, so we both go shopping.
The method of shopping is very simple. In a self-service shop a customer goes from counter to counter selecting and putting into a basket or a trolley the goods he wants to buy. It’s absolutely necessary to check the dates before which this or that foodstuff should be used, not to buy something of bad quality. Then a customer takes the basket or a trolley to the check-out counter where the prices of the purchases are added up. After paying money to the cashier the customer can get his purchases. Today a lot of people prefer to pay by cards. It is a comfortable and fast way of paying. And you don`t need to worry about having enough cash.
Mum and I go to the supermarket where we can buy different things at once: fish, bread, sausages, tea, sugar, spices, eggs. I think that a bakery department is among the best in the supermaket as it has a rich choice of biscuits. And what is more important, they are always fresh and tasty.
Another department of the supermarket, which we have to visit, is a dairy. At the dairy we buy milk, cream, yogurt, cheese, butter and other products. My Mum and I are regular customers at the greengrocer’s where we buy potatoes, carrots, cabbage, cucumbers, tomatoes, oranges, apples and other fruits and vegetables. In summer we prefer buying fruits, berries and vegetables at the nearest market. There is also a wide assortment of ready meals and pre-made items prepared  so that you can just pop them on the stove, saving you time.

The world of fashion in the year 2200

Have you ever thought about what life will be  like in the year 2200? Well, class 2C at St. John`s School in Britain have thought about it, and here is what they wrote...

In the year 2200 we will all wear electronic clothes with microchips in them so that we can talk to our friends wherever we are. Our clothes will be very light and cool to protect us from the strong sun. We will go cyber shopping for clothes and visit different websites with a click of a mouse. We will be able to find whatever we want at lower prices than in the shops, so we won`t have to go into the city center to buy new clothes.

Charlene Lewis

I think that in the year 2200 there won`t be much water so when clothes get dirty, people will throw them away. Peope will buy their clothes on the Internet, not in the shops. They will have a computer and a credit card and they will shop online in the comfort of their own home. It will be great because we won`t have to stand in long queues or go from shop to shop. We will go from site to site instead.

Craig Miller

In the future people will  wear platform shoes because they won`t want to walk in all the rubbish in the streets. People will wear breathing masks to protect themselves from air pollution and special suits to protect themselves from the sun. They will buy everything on the Net because there won`t be any shops in the towns.
